Emily Machniak

Emily is a recent college graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned her B.S. in Psychological and Brain Sciences along with a minor in Anthropology from UCSB, where she worked with Dr. Barry Giesbrecht and Dr. Virginia Beaufort. During her fourth year at UCSB, she conducted an honors thesis investigating the interactions between attentional control, salience, and the attentional window to better understand the boundaries of attention. Emily is currently assisting with research projects that are examining aspects of cognition such as attention and perception in the context of exercise and augmented reality. She is interested in continuing research on cognition with an interdisciplinary approach. Outside the lab, Emily likes to immerse herself in fashion, cooking, and playing video games. She also works in the Attention Lab at UCSB.
